A lot of machines are going to be sold for next-gen games like HL2, DOOM3, the next UT, and FarCry.

AMD64 machines will have the 20% advantage over the Intel systems.

Intel won't have consumer 64-bit systems out for over a year.

Intel won't have 64-bit laptops 'till when, '06?

It takes a LOT of marketing $$$ to overcome a simple 20-30% performance deficit, and the effort will fail regardless if/when word gets out.
