that's the nice thing about 'innovative solutions'. DDI not only is able to customize the AHC to customer's specs for new installation, but adapt to exisiting format to improve the clients capabilities

Another great source of info on the Proteus is to search this board for- SODV report - Chikyu - and -Joides - (Resolution) and - AHC -

A wealth of dd and research in those posts.

jk, i feel just the opposite as you about this. if deep down makes a proteus that ships with their own 4000M lars, or another that can retrofit to existing winches, this just means they can corner more of the market, with two products instead of one. and both are high ticket items. it's this sort of flexibility and attention to their client's needs that makes them even stronger as a one stop shop. jmho.

jk - I'm trying to understand how you arrived at that conclusion and the only thing I could come up with is that if DDI had already built many of these to sell off-the-shelf, then the new and improved version would impact the sales of the old. However, at $0.5M+ per Proteus, these are mostly built to customer specs and can price close to $1M with a high level of customization work. The new and improved version should give them even more of a market with zero undercutting of sales, IMO.
