#52179 RE: techisbest #52178

let's think "paradigm shift". the source of a lot of strife around here in the last few months has been the decoupling of reality and price. when good news doesn't have an impact. in moments like that it doesn't matter what one's investment thesis is, or whether you subscribe to TA or FA (or a mix of both, like me). when the market in a stock is being manipulated nothing works, and it makes us all fearful, angry and miserable.

i'm glad to see some sanity returning to the trading here. and it's pretty clear in retrospect what happened: so many deep pockets loaded this dip at the same time a very powerful and profitable short position was covered. this is just my theory, but if true it suggests any lingering fears about downside risk will be unfounded. the big money is loaded up now, they know what they own, and they will make major profits on their investments over a long term horizon imo.

going forward, let's keep an eye on the chart, sure. but i'd also like to bring the board around to focusing on the fundamentals again. all the time we've been in that downtrend the company never stopped building their revenues. PR after PR, millions upon millions in sales, and the products, services, and client base just kept getting more impressive.

we're at a time now when this fundamental strength can show itself in the stock performance again, and i cannot wait to watch the fireworks as even more unexpected news hits the wires in the days ahead. this potential "wild card", always in the wings, is the essence of DPDW as an investment. it's the notion that we could all wake up one morning wealthy because a major contract got signed, or some brand new product just hit the market.

it's the idea that we could wake up one fine day and never have to worry about "selling the top of the run" because the company just got bought out by a major player. this is all very real, as the rate of consolidation in the offshore oil patch is fierce and getting more intense as time goes by.

congrats to everyone. those who stuck it out, and also to the many new arrivals on this board who are just now beginning to build positions. as 2008 unfolds we're in for some really good times imo.
