A product co-developed by Genzyme Corp. to help reduce wrinkles has gained federal marketing approval.
The drug -- Prevelle Silk -- is a colorless gel injected directly into the face.
Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Mentor Corp. (NYSE: MNT) developed the treatment with Cambridge, Mass.-based Genzyme (Nasdaq: GENZ) in order to take advantage of Genzyme's expertise involving products containing hyaluronic acid, which is also in the Prevelle Silk treatment.
Mentor will market and distribute the treatment globally.
The product is expected to hit the marketplace later this year.
