I just now saw your post, after seeing one from alex.

Education?? No, I want experience, not education. Bush had plenty of education -- 'nuff said. Local community service??? Around here, that is what first time offenders are sentenced to do. Community service is nice, and we all should do it, but it hardly prepares one to be the president of the United States. Obama is a first time senator who rode the coattails of a great speech at the democratic convention to gain his seat. He has spent most of his term preparing and running for President and has accomplished little or nothing while in the senate. As I said, his resume is still a blank page, with no experience that would qualify him for the job of President.

I have heard little in the way of specifics from any of the candidates -- mostly platitudes and generalities. That is to be expected during the nominating process, but hopefully they will get pinned down to where they have to tell us exactly what their program is at some point.

Just curious, why is it that you always have to give them names rather than using their real names?? That is so childish and off-putting that I rarely if ever read your posts.

Peg, i watched bill moyers last evening... he had an author on by the name of susan jacoby.. her most recent book is the age of american unreason... my cursory observation is she talks about how wishful thinking and science are colliding and how americans have become ignorant and lost their sense of wonder... we are too accepting of what we are told to think especially when its obviously skewed and made to fit into 5 second sound bites...(except for us here and other political blogs)... . she's very articulate and makes sense... being ignorant to knoweldge isnt the same as being stupid.. it seems americans just dont want to spend any time thinking these days..she thinks politicians should spend more time teaching and informing the people on what changes they want and why they are necessary.. she said the clintons failed with the health care initiatives in the 90s because they failed to bring all parties to the table and didnt educate and explain to the people the problems they saw, why they must be dealt with and what their plan would do to fix it.. they just said heres our plan, approve it... it used to be that people would seek out opposing view points, but with polarizing politics we just seek those we agree with more often than not... another show i saw had bill cosby on talking about his new book, come on people.. its about his controversial views on the black community and its inner problems that shouldnt be blamed on white people.. i want to read both but just started commission by phillip shenon about the failures of the 911 commission and how it was set up to hide the facts...
