but it's worth mentioning now to keep my confidence up going into earnings: Examples of massive shorting on super hot products in the past that I have been involved in:
HANS - monster energy drink - heavily shorted with lots of bashing on Yahoo and other boards - but company perfomrance jumped one quarter and didn't look back.
CROX - shoes - they all said it was a temporary fad (heavily shorted) that would soon fade - company results stalled for a single quarter and shorts piled on - then sales took off and never looked back.
BRLC - LCD HDTV's - massive short position - revenue climbed super quick and resulted in some cash flow issues and other segments of company had sub par performance. Company did some management shakeup, announced new strategy designed to tackle these issues and.....................
According to Nasdaq, short interest for mid Jan was 20m+ (est 9.1 days to cover) - How much do you think the proposed lawsuits (and the whole subject of misguiding shareholders) effected shorters here?
