MSFT, Anyone buying to hold MSFT since 1998 is probably underwater. Amazing, isn't it. One would have been much better off buying a 10 tear treasury note and would have received a better return than investing in one of the most popular favorite tech holdings.
As a side note, in Jan -Feb of 2000 I challenged the investors board at AOL that the 6.5% 30 year treasury I bought would give me a better return over the next 30 years than any of the favorite large cap techs such as MSFT, CSCO, INTC, DELL etc. on a buy and hold basis. Right now I'm way ahead. Maybe Bearmove remembers that. I think I wagered a quarter 30 years out but had no takers.
