>>democratic Colombia is one of the United States’ closest allies in the region
I'm confused. Aren't they all democratic?
while Ahmadinejad has promised Ortega hundreds of millions in public-works projects.
And China reportedly plans to invest $100 billion in Latin American and the Caribbean in energy and infrastructure projects over the next decade.
Hmmm.... there's a novel concept. And why hasn't anyone on our side of the board thought of such a thing? Oh that's right. Liberals say stuff like that... not people who love America.
We had a medic in my platoon.. back in the eighties remember, Barnett was his name, and he was Panamanian (now that I think about it... black guy with a Jewish name... hmmm. Never thought about that, but I digress) He told me in his country the communist would actually go into the countryside and teach the peasants (campesinos) to read... so they could read propaganda. How clever. I wondered why the "democratic" government never taught the people to read.
Another guy, Albinana (Had a tilde on the first "n" but my keyboard doesn't have an enye) was from El Salvador. Remember.. the eighties. He was at the university when a protest broke out and the police just sort of swept him up with everyone else. Someone at the station knew his family and got him out. Dad sent him to the States. One assumes the rest didn't make it.
El Salvador was a "democratic" ally of the US. ORDEN was trained by Green Beret.
What has brought us to this pass? Keep in mind, Latinos generally don't dislike US citizens. They're sometimes a bit antipathetic to the US governement though. But why? What do these people want anyway?
