Smooth, everything you list is a speculative "future". And I wouldn't be very confident in 'outprofit' per share this year, were I an Intel investor. Like Microsoft, Intel is no longer a growth stock. It's dead in the water for the next year or two, as its ASPs decline to meet AMD's rising ASPs. Investors seem to be catching on.

smoth2o, nice points but you assume that while Intel is labouring to incorporate all the copied AMD features into their CPUs, AMD's cpus will stay stagnant. What if by the time Intel adds all that stuff, AMD has dual core A64s? Actually that brings up a good question. Will Dothan and its successor support Hyperthreading or is that going to die along with Netburst?

NX will be added within the timeframe of 64 bit software

And Intel won't put 64-bit on the desktop until when? - 2006? Why should there be any connection with 64-bit Windows? NX will work just fine on plain old ordinary Windows XP in just a couple months.

Doug: Puhlease. Intel is behind on iAMD64, behind on NX, behind on an integrated memory controller, behind on glueless interconnect, behind on power dissipation. They better get to work on out-something-ing AMD.

Puhlease yourself. They do out-something AMD.. like I said to Petz, they
Outmarket,
Outbuild,
Outprofit.

In addition to those things, they have taken away 64 bit advantage, NX will be added within the timeframe of 64 bit software (not a biggie for sure), rumored on INQ of integrated MC (Dothan? Now that would be showstopper, but Dothan is rumored to be a shrink only, OTOH, Banias was a real showstopped from those Isreal teams, huh?), have a real winner in power in Dothan so they can do that when they want.

What are you going to say when Intel adopts HT? What will AMD have left? Long term, I'd worry about my AMD investment... Maybe we all misunderstood "copy exactly". :-)

Smooth

They cant have cHT.
Jerry said so!!!
