There are 2 potential answers to your question:
1) Divide your holding in 4 or 5 separate Certs, deposit with your Broker together with an executed "Stock Power" for each Cert, with written Instruction to put the stock back into Street Name only on your expressed saying so... The Broker has 3 days to close a Sale transaction, which is ample time to process the Cert...
2) Put 2/3 or 3/4 of your holding in Certs, using the procedure described above and keep the rest in DTC...
If your Broker knows you well, you can also fax the Certs and sell "short", pending the arrival of the paperwork... If you hold your shares in Certificate Form and the stock goes on AMEX, you exchange your "old" Certs for "new" ones at the Transfer Agent, using a Courier Service, of course...
