2Mar is not so strange in this debate, IMHO, Urmy. Think about it--it is now a mathematical certainty that there is other life beyond the reaches of our solor system--Hubble has proven that by finding thousands of GALAXIES that we never knew existed before. How many billions of planets must there be? Are we here on earth so bold and arrogant that we think we are the most advanced lifeforms anywhere?
Considering the state of affairs on our tiny little planet, it seems a very good idea for us to be seeking answers elsewhere.
Hubble, right now, is our ONLY method and technology in doing this search. It is truly reaching out into the final frontier, and by this effort we will develop new theories, new concepts, new ideas, higher ideals, more hope and a better life for humankind.
What have we yet to see through the lens of Hubble?...the thought gives me chills. We can not imagine what really lies out there, and yet Hubble is expanding our knowledge almost on a second by second basis. We must not lose one day of use of this wonderful machine as its eye peers into both our future and our past.
Thanks goodness, many of our best scientific minds are, as we speak, trying to find ways to keep Hubble alive.
