Its pretty simple, just watch the major stocks within the each sector and track the corresponding ETFs for a bit of guide. Rydex makes it sooooooooo easy as they give you the stocks within their funds.

Another way is to watch the intraday actions of the Fidelity selects. I've done that for 20 years or so.
