Huckabee served for 10 1/2 years as Governor of Arkansas, a largely Democratic state. Thus he is used to working in a bipartisan fashion, as would be true of Romney, former governor of liberal Democratic Massachusetts. Many Democrats thought that a previous Democratic Governor well qualified to be President. As Governor, Huckabee had to manage an extensive bureacracy, manage a budget, and be accountable for the performance of government. Senators manage a small office staff, and are never accountable for the performance of government, it's always someone else's fault.
