VZ runs a new line to the house then they are able to use the old Comcast lines inside the house.Picture on FIOS is Great & the internet is much faster. IMHO

mrbojangles2525: Verizon (VZ)

I recently signed up for Verizon's 3-for package. Then I ran a systems spec check at their website and found out that my computer does not have an Ethernet card. I'm not buying a new computer, so I'll probably cancel the contract.

Here is where they get you. Direct TV is high-def so you have to rent a "box" for EACH TV you hook up. In my case, that would be 3, or $15 a month ($5 per month each). I doubt that the boxes cost Verizon more than $20, so they are going to clean up on the boxes. I asked whether you have to rent the boxes if you have high-def ready TV--the answer was "yes".

The interview process to sign up took 20 minutes. The sign-up and installation are labor intensive. The up-front money they are spending on the FIOS layout has to be mind-boggling.

To tell you the truth, bojang, if I could do it over again, I would not have selected either VZ or XM for the contest.
