Hi LC,

Thanks!! The way you described it, it sounds like you can set parameters, then set a list of stocks (whether they meet the parameters or not) and then the scanner will alert you when any stock on your list meets the criteria. Is this right? And does it do this intraday or just at the end of the day?

At any rate, that's a good feature to have on a stock scan.

I took a look at the MSN scanner, and it has quite a few fundamental criteria like dividend yield and profit criteria and so forth that would be suited for a strategy that uses FA as a method. I would encourage anyone who uses FA in their strategies to check this out!

I wouldn't be able to use it myself however, as I use TA in strategies a,b,c, and e and I do not require scanning or screening for strategy d. For the new daytrading strategy ("e") I actually use a real-time streaming filter that is available on my trading platform. I will be using the results of one of it's intraday scans as of 11:00 AM each trading day to identify stocks to scalp during the remaining 5-1/2 hours.

If you want a good idea of what a TA scanner might look like, check out the ones at smallcapcenter.com and stockcharts.com.
I currently use the advanced scanning feature at stockcharts.com and I will talk about how I made that choice in an upcoming post.

Just catching up on IHub posts now, and after that I will get CRACKING on my strategies so I have more to write about in the next "Cap's Log" entry today lol.
