ASKJ Remains a POS- there's Stevie-seller and Jordan-pumper
Ask Jeeves, which is a smaller player in a hot industry that includes giants Microsoft Corp., Yahoo Inc. and Google Inc., said the deal helps it greatly increase its audience. The companies said Interactive Search Holdings (www.interactivesearchholdings.com), of Irvington, N.Y., had about 700 million searches in the fourth quarter, compared with 680 million searches on Ask Jeeves's proprietary sites during the same period. "This acquisition will enable us to combine Ask Jeeves's proven strengths in user experience, search technology and brand development with Interactive Search Holdings' strengths in distribution and direct marketing," Ask Jeeves Chief Executive Steve Berkowitz said. Anal-ysts viewed the deal positively."This doubles the scale of Jeeves from a search perspective, and immediately broadens the scope of the company to much more than just a search destination," Schwab Soundview analyst Jordan Rohan said in a research note. "We think this is a great acquisition, that it makes sense both financially and strategically."
