CompUSA said it has been sold to Gordon Brothers Group, a restructuring
firm that will wind-down the retailer's operations and attempt to sell
off its assets. Financial terms were not disclosed. The Dallas-based
chain, which is controlled by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, said its
103 stores will remain open and staffed during the holiday season. The
sale marks a retreat for Mr. Slim, who poured about $2 billion into
CompUSA since his first stake in the business in 1999.
