No, it didn't. That's just wrong. It started as Cifra, which was a big retailer in Mexico, before Wal-Mart got involved. I happen to know, because I was the one to coin the term "Wal-Mex" when I was peddling the stock for Merrill Lynch back in 1989 or so, at a dollar or so a share, back when it was still Cifra and the Wal-Mart involvement was just a barely substantiated rumor. Maybe Cifra was a penny stock at one time, but if so, it was several decades ago, before Wal-Mart got involved.
As for Wal-Mart, I used to know Sam Walton, and even jump-started his truck out behind First National Bank of Fayetteville. Tom S. is no Sam Walton. Sam was a retailing genius; Tom S. is a penny stock manipulator and a Sam Walton wannabe, in my opinion.
