I, personally, don't understand why anyone would want to buy it for the exact reasons you stated, but it isn't exactly like I'm in the M&A department for a major corporations. Even, the obligatory... "Stayed at Holiday Inn Express" comment is weak for me on this subject.
I actually, didn't think the odds were very good anyone would buy them, but the CEO's pulling out of the conference where he was scheduled to speak tomorrow, implies (to me) a buy out - either that or BK and they would not be near BK yet, I wouldn't think.
I think Snake's trade was the way to go, but if someone does buy them out, I guess it could be at a higher price.
