Perhaps. An alternative explanation is that JP was in a good mood because this was the first CC in a while where he didn’t have bad news to report.

IDIX is a drug-discovery company and I think this got emphasized more on this CC than it has in the past. Some investors are skeptical of IDIX’s drug-discovery skills after the NM283 failure; however, if these investors would step back and observe that HCV drug candidates from ACHN, ANDS, AVII, COLY, GILD, XTLB, and VPHM also failed during 2007, they might not punish IDIX unduly for its own mishaps.
