Energy Bill May Boost Ethanol, Tech Monday December 17, 6:06 pm ET
"Less heralded, but just as important, are the parts of the bill that govern utilities' incentives for efficiency, says John Quealy, senior analyst at Canaccord Adams in Boston.
Utilities need to measure how much demand for power changes over time. The bill also has provisions that would allow utilities to accelerate depreciation.
He notes that companies such as EnerNOC (NasdaqGM:ENOC - News), Comverge (NasdaqGM:COMV - News), Itron (NasdaqGS:ITRI - News) and ESCO Technologies (NYSE:ESE - News) all make new kinds of meters for gas and electricity, as well as the systems to measure and manage demand." http://biz.yahoo.com/ibd/071217/funds.html?.v=1
