Think about what happens here on the board when a MM raises their bid. Everybody starts posting "Hey look, NITE raised the bid! I'm going in!!"
Chances are it would excite more BUYING in the stock and that's what was killing the MM in the first place.
Since the public buys at the ask, a MM can dry up demand by raising the ask and making us chase them.
But then again, these MMs have head games down to a science, so it's probably crazy for me to try and figure them out. I've been a broker, but never a MM.
