a not entirely accurate usage of the word (could go more to revelation of character, perhaps)...I imagine it was meant in the vein of "greedily accepted", or something like that, or "heartily", which would have been more collegial, IMO.
"rapacious":
1. given to seizing for plunder or the satisfaction of greed.
2. inordinately greedy; predatory; extortionate: a rapacious disposition.
3. (of animals) subsisting by the capture of living prey; predacious.
