Langostino,It would certainly be great to eliminate the blackmail exerted on U.S. by middle eastern countries and we tell these corrupt Saudi etc regimes to kiss off however to think the Democrats are going to make this a prime platform issue is hard for me to grasp. The inertia leaning against such an energy policy is tremendous and to think that electing any candidate that would actually be able to implement such a policy seems very problematic. Energy independence has been talked about for so long with absolutely no forward progress being made that I quite frankly will be shocked if I see anything close in my lifetime. It would certainly be nice if I were wrong,however, the more I ponder this I think anyone creating enough momentum to actually make this happen would experience an untimely accident!
