My best guess is we'll know something is up when we start to see BLDP stock price rising precipitously. BLDP may or may not have the right tech but, last I read, it had deals already signed with virtually all the major auto makers. Thus, it's my DEW line until proven otherwise.
Not my field of expertise, though. I'd be more than happy to be updated by someone more current.

PS the latest (March 2004) issue of Road and Track magazine has Mazda issuing a gasoline/hydrogen dashboard-switchable model of its RX-8 sports car for model year 2005. The Mazda rotary engines are well suited to a bi-fuel system, as one just pokes another hole in the combustion chamber and hooks up the hydrogen line. No messing with valve gear, etc. fwiw. Nice car, though the styling leaves a bit to be desired. Under $30k. You can't be spending all that money on inventions, can you? <g>
