Sarals...In your opinion, just exactly what would the guidelines/rules be for “be respectful, etc”.
To me, and this is just my opinion, being called an idiot is not something too serious at all, as apposed to lets say being called something like an as--ole, now that could be considered disrespectful by many, but being called an idiot does not bother me at all, in fact it happens more then I would care to point out, LOL! I think the problem may be that some here are being overly sensitive while some others are far too callous. I came to this conclusion when began to notice that quite often the ones that complain the most about deletions were often the very same ones that calling for deletions, this is no lie on my part and I‘d bet Matt has some stats that would back me up on this.
IMO, If you cannot get along on another’s board then you should leave, why stay where you are not wanted, Matt has it set up so you can create your own board, how totally cool!
If you have a board and a member is causing problems to the point where a significant portion of a moderators time is spent arguing, correcting or deleting some of a one posters posts then the moderator should be able to block them from further harassing the board and wasting that boards moderators & Matt’s time! You know very well that some people will post stuff just so it will to get it deleted, and then complain about it when it happens! I tire of this harassment as much as Matt.
I really don’t understand why anyone would want to force themselves in where they are not wanted or appreciated, however, there are few here that do just that. More then once I have been chased from board to board and forced to remove many a nonsense post that was posted just to harass the board and me, trust me, I would rather be elsewhere on IH and doing other things. My point is this, I think the new feature here is good one, sadly it is needed, some people just can’t behave. However, I’m not looking forward to the war of words and the hassle this is going to cause, but again I think Matt & Bob are doing the right thing, nobody needs waste their time with the hassle that a very small portion of the IH community are causing.
I am disliked, hated & haunted by many here, however, I totally care not if I’m blocked from a board, I most likely have nothing in common with these posters always, so no loss to me if so. If someone thinks me an idiot and calls me one, or calls me something worse, I really don’t care, I’m an adult, and I’m certainly not going to waste my trying to change their mind, it will have no effect on my life at all, Unless it’s libel or a privacy issue, I don’t see the need for a big hassle, and if it libel or a privacy issue Matt needs to handle it anyways.
Matt has given us the best damn site out there, what a shame his time, my time, and a lot others time is and has been wasted because someone does not like what some said about them or can’t agree to disagrees with them. Anyways, that’s how I feel on this issue, I hope we all survive and that pain ends soon, Truly!
