Correct Catty, and that is addressed to some degree in the article also.

It's all well and good to say they will make more lucrative trips with credit card paying customers, but if that doesn't pan out then the cabbies are short the fees. On paper it looks good but will the reality pan out as good. That's what generating the fear of change.
As for the GPS issue and privacy, since they already have to submit paper reports on their trips, and they are transporting a paying public, the privacy issue is a nonstarter for me. We track trains, planes, etc, so why not cabs?
