WHAT HAVE YOU DONE LATELY is the perfect question to be asking Mark and Michelle, the cons who gave you 360OTC, Rockford-Montgomery and TSXT. It's not a fair question in the context of Mayfield's abilities. Mayfield has proven that he can be competative, and win, when provided with the proper equipment. Bill Davis Racing could have been able to supply that equipment, if the so-called sponsor had paid their fees in anything but worthless stock certificates. Bill Davis' first mistake was in believing the promises of DeMattei and Shearer (just like the investors here who have been taken for a ride and I don't mean around the race track). BD's second mistake was when he decided to minimize any advertising advantage for M and M by cutting corners, hamstringing Mayfield and the entire 36 team, guaranteeing the car wouldn't make the races. Davis can't afford to run a second car without a sponsor to help pay the bills. $10M is a ton of money, but not on NASCAR's Cup circuit. Giving Mayfield a remotely competative car would have guaranteed the bogus sponsor media time and possibly put even more money in M and M's pockets. On one hand, I can understand why Bill Davis made his choices. On the other, those choices prove he's not as astute a business man as he would like us to believe. Only a fool would deliberately shortchange his assets (such as Mayfield and the 36 team). Of course, only a fool would fail to conduct due diligence when there's so much money involved. Mayfield, unfortunately, didn't have a choice once he signed with BDR. If he had, DeMattei might not have been able to get a foot in NASCAR's door (again).
