I really think a lot of this is that the Government is leveraging against your demise.
Cap Gains, get it now, losses, stretch that out and the chances of you claiming some benefit of the loss over years.
The odds are higher that you will not claim it all if it was a substantial loss, for instance, if i took a loss of 60K and did not play the market or never gains, then i have 20 years of 3K max to write off...
20 years... geepers.. what can happen in 20 years?
