If I am not mistaken, Bankruptcy laws have been restructured in such a way that the debt will follow you. Obviously not the full amount, but that which is determined by a trustee or court. I believe this also applies to those who Refied under the new laws too. I am not sure just how it will work as the law may vary from state to state where CA courts for instance may be less inclined to hold peoples feet to the fire, but dumping the keys and walking away is no longer an option for the most part...
