Fred (I feel like I'm speaking to myself),

I have been with Ameritrade for some time, and have had no problems until two just recently.

They gave me 15 free trades today, and a couple of emergency-type phone numbers as well.

A couple of people on our AMTD board here are looking into other online brokers. I'll wait & see & compare.

Ameritrade is usually pretty good on the phone...it's just that along with the website being down yesterday, their phones also went down...terrible combination.

Holding...for now...

P.s. Hard-copy confirmations (if you mean by mail) would seem of little use (if I'm understanding you correctly). I get real time info. & confirmations online, and print out my monthly (weekly, if it's heavy) activity. Price & execution are good.

Koikaze, I would look for a broker within driving distance of your home. So if all else fails you can choke the living you know what out of them.

I use Scottrade and the local office and I are on a first name basis. Not the best but imo not the worst. Do a drive by.
