Since the trees' are genetically engineered, I wonder why they weren't neutered, so to speak, in the lab. One seed, one tree, no pollination, thus no threat to other species. I can see where introducing a steroidal growth gene to existing natural trees' could upset an ecosystem to the point of no recovery.
