re:And when a 64 bit OS does arrive, AMD 64 bit customers will have to buy all new 64 bit software to run on them

Wrong. BigTime!

I'm running a 64 bit operating system on my AMD64 system and it runs 32 bit software just fine. Maybe you ought to buy one.

AMD 64 bit customers will have to buy...

Actually, the software they have now will run just fine under Windows 64 bit edition. The only requirment is 64 bit drivers which already are or will be available from the motherboard manufacturer.

The test rig we have here is proof enough for me. Running Windows 64 bit desktop and Server 2003 64bit for AMD. Obviously both are beta software, but we have not found an issue with 32 bit applications yet.

But, you already knew that right?

sub0, so I guess Epic is on your blacklist now too?

AMD 64 bit customers will have to buy all new 64 bit software to run on them

No, the Athlon 64-optimized version of Nero is available as a free download already. Do you really think Epic will charge more for their 64-bit games?

Do you think the SP2 for Windows XP, which will enable hardware virus protection ONLY on Athlon 64 and Opteron CPUs will cost more than $0?

Do you think more than a few people will like the idea of free virus protection, only available on certain computers?
