Printer ASIC, Switching, Video HD-DVD/Blue-Ray up converter, HD-DVD/Blue-Ray dual mode decoder, DAVE, power mgmt (MRVL is famous for this, considered one of the bests of breed, oldest biz), baseband (comm proc PXA9xx), wireless router, combo (Blu+Wifi, Blue+AM/FM, PXA9xx+PXA3xx, Xscale+Wifi+HDD/Flash Cache controller DAVE) ICs need to be accounted for.

Now you see the Printer ASIC, Xscale+baseband Acqs, DAVE, flash cache controller, Video are taking hold as parts of diversification strategy to smooth out HDD seasonality. I'd like to see HDD to be 25-30% of biz by 09 so that we don't have to go through this kind of gyration ever again, feasts and famines.

How about the Network Attached Storage (NAS) Biz?

The MRVLs Orion Media Vault Storage Processor has had many wins in this area over the last year. (Not to mention that some are using the XSCALE too) Is this number lumped into the HDD numbers, the processor numbers, or maybe own line item?

Many of the low-cost / mid-range performance NAS devices are now using this processor. You can look at the reviews / teardowns from Buffalo and Maxtor here to see examples.

I haven't seen too many people talking about this growing market segment so I thought I'd bring it up.

By the way... Great Board! S2, et al, excellent job!
