#7918 RE: gfp927z #7900

gfp,

What I saw this morning that made me think that it would be similar to yesterday was that the Ask started out showing 50k shares at 2.60. It stayed there for a few seconds and then changed to 50k at 2.59, some filled at that price, then the remainder (50k minus what had been filled) move toward the Bid, 2.58, then some filled and the remainder moved to 2.57 and so on and so it went, until it reached 2.46 about 10:59. There just wasn’t enough volume in the Bids to keep the price up. The order at the Ask never held their ground until the 2.44 – 2.45 area. They seemed content to chase the Bid price down. This wouldn’t have been bad if it had been on a day with high volume (like the CNBC comment about COR or some other positive news). It doesn’t seem that this was a Market order sale or the price would have dropped like a rock from the start. I think it was a limit order that was constantly changed to dump the shares to a final limit. I hope that is their final limit if they have more to sell. The market maker is suppose to keep the price as stable as possible with the volume that is coming in (even buying and selling in his own account, if necessary), but he will not knowingly or willingly take a losing position in his account.
