I'm not sure that Intel's name recognition is important outside the US and Canadian market. AMD gets a lot of help in Europe from the Dresden manufacturing base. Japan seems concerned with power (both ways, electrical and performance). The rest of the world is interested primarily in price-points, except for server uses, which will be price-performance driven.
In short, Intel has it good in North America, but has a fight on its hands elsewhere. And North America continues to shrink in market percentage.
Could I ask those posting from outside North America what their feelings are on this?
