Bush's new buddy/

Libya's prime minister said Thursday that the United States should act quickly to reward his country for abandoning its secret weapons programs. He warned that unless the United States lifted sanctions by May 12, Libya would not be bound to pay the remaining $6 million promised to each family of victims killed on Pan Am Flight 103.

Bush sorry but too busy to care about bankrupting schools.

A small but growing number of school systems around the country are beginning to resist the demands of President Bush's signature education law, saying its efforts to raise student achievement are too costly and too cumbersome.

The school district here in Reading recently filed suit contending that Pennsylvania, in enforcing the federal law, had unfairly judged Reading's efforts to educate thousands of recent immigrants and unreasonably required the impoverished city to offer tutoring and other services for which there is no money.

"We're not trying to make a political statement, but this law can just overwhelm a school system's ability to meet its requirements, especially when a district is as financially stressed as we are," said Fred Gaige, a school board member. His school system has been struggling to comply with the law, he said, even as it flirts with bankruptcy because the local manufacturing economy is collapsing.

Bush sets example for Tsa official.

CHANTILLY, Va. (AP) -- Police arrested the chief of the Transportation Security Administration for Dulles International Airport early Thursday and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol, airport authorities said.

Charles Brady was pulled over at about 1 a.m. EST by a Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police officer who saw him driving erratically, said airport spokeswoman Tara Hamilton.

He was taken to the Fairfax County Detention Center where he spent the night before being released Thursday afternoon.

Bush says we can help Iran if one of his family is included.

At the same time, Dole, former head of the American Red Cross, independently contacted the State Department about traveling to Iran with a Red Cross delegation to provide additional aid material, U.S. officials said. The administration embraced the proposal and began exploring the idea of expanding the mission to include an as yet unspecified member of the Bush family, and others, U.S. officials said yesterday. The administration continues to discuss the makeup of a possible U.S. delegation as it awaits Tehran's answer.

Bush says work more get paid less.

She said that the 1938 law needs to be revised and updated because the economy today is different from when the law was enacted and that confusion over who should qualify for overtime has led to lawsuits. Changes in the overtime rules eventually could affect millions of workers nationwide. About 11 million workers received overtime pay in 2002. The administration has proposed changes that would end mandatory overtime pay for many who now qualify but would expand overtime coverage to other workers.
