The complacent media can be put onto the truth if enough of us hammer at it on the internet. The prototype for this was the Watergate case which dragged along as nothing for a long time and then exploded into an entire administration sent packing, many to prison. The Bushies have earned just such a fate for crimes and misdeeds way beyond anything Nixon and his crew ever dreamed of.
The damage is already done, of course. Our government is ridiculously in debt, and yes, we have a new generation of soldiers and other young people traumatized by the brutal slaughter of civilians in a faraway land with no connection to our security or welfare. Turning back that process can only begin by turning the Bushies out of office. Until then it will be business as usual--more debt and more slaughter. It's up to us to make it stop.
