Jerry, Re: Elmer makes money on AMD, and he should be applauded for that. Instead, many here on this board take offense at his AMD opinions. Why?

Only the hard core 'Droids take offense at this. I wouldn't bother reasoning with Steve Harris when there are plenty more reasonable AMD investors here with whom to debate.

Jerry -

Elmer makes money on AMD, and he should be applauded for that. Instead, many here on this board take offense at his AMD opinions. Why?

I don't know that he was talking about me because I've never claimed to be an Intel Contractor. It is clear though that by he original question (Do you consider selling Puts to be Bullish or Bearish?) that he is unsophisticated in this investment tactic. It obviously depends on the company, the strike price and the expiration date. My strategy expects AMD to remain more or less neutral. However it will work in a neutral, bullish or bearish environment as long as the decline is not both terribly steep and prolonged. I think what's really bothering him is that I've made good money and I've been right about AMD's (in)ability to produce processors in high volume and their remarkable ability to lose money. But it's all about making money as an investor and while my tactics here may not work forever they are doing fine now.

For Steve Harris, it's not about making money.
