Thanks!
I'll keep that in mind!
I hope It's not intimidating or embarassing to anyone for me to have $1000 :D

I purchased my first stock with a "Nest Egg" of $500. It was my H.S. Graduation money, and I recall that I was 18yrs old at the time.

JoeP, on investing start

With not too much money to start with, as a Canadian, I'm not sure AMD is the place to start. The trouble is that you're going to get dinged for currency conversion and a much higher per share commission rate. You probably would be better off starting with a lower-priced tech company where you can at least buy an even multiple of hundreds of shares, traded on the TSE perhaps. I'm not sure I have one to recommend, although I do hold some Wi-Lan (WIN.TO on TSE over Yahoo) and JDSU (JDU.TO). I hold ATI as well and have no idea what they're going to do. A great quarter last week and nothing!

I'm assuming you want to be in tech stocks for some reason, perhaps just the rush. Nothing wrong with that, but try to concentrate on making your buys and sells cheap in relation to the stock price. JMHO.
