eamon.. I had the same problem..I automatically delete messages as soon as I read them. It has to be a new message you are reading...and if you look to the right you can click on "file"

I'm going to assume that you got it figured out with the help of other folks who replied.

I'd estimate that the feature is only about 20% "done" right now. There are numerous additions. Too many to list, but here's a partial list off the top of my head.

1. Everyone will get a folder number zero, which is their trash can. These are the messages that're currently accessible when you hit the "Archived: Outbox" link. They'll be "moved" to the trash-can folder.

2. Messages in the trash can will gain the ability to be filed.

3. The MailBox page will gain a checkbox before each message so that you can select multiple messages and move them to the same folder instead of having to do it one at a time.

4. I'll add the ability to delete and rename folders.

5. Each message in a folder will gain a "Return to MailBox" function that'll take the message out of the folder and put it back in your current MailBox.

6. I might add the ability to move messages from one folder to another.

7. "Kept" messages will be marked "UnKept" once they're moved to a folder. This will probably be the first addition.

8. Advanced Search will be modified to take Folders into account.

I haven't yet decided how to handle the trash-can. I got into quite an argument with someone several months ago about the difference between how SI and iHub handle the trash can and the fact that neither site truly "trashes" a message. SI at least gives that illusion when you're using your "Trash" folder. I'll likely set iHub up in the same way, so that messages that're removed are sent to the trash can and if they're then removed from the trash can, they're no longer visible in that folder, but still accessible via searches and following reply chains backwards.

There's still a lot of work to be done to it.

I'll be able to start putting in a lot more time on iHub programming starting in January because I've finished the SI database migration project and am in the early stages of rewriting the front-end as ASP. Since I'm building that from scratch, I'll be able to avoid a lot of "mistakes" in iHub's software, and when I write those parts correctly on SI, I'll make the same changes to iHub.

My programming time will probably be about 75% SI, 25% iHub until I'm done with SI's rewrite. Better than the 99% SI, 1% iHub it's been for the past several months.

Edit: I still haven't decided whether or not to make this a Premium Feature. I'm leaning toward Premium for a number of reasons, one of which is the storage and CPU overhead that is evident on SI and will happen here.

While this feature is still under development, I'll keep it available to everyone. People who don't have even free accounts, of course, won't be able to use it. But free registered members will be able to use it all they like. And if I later decide to make it a Premium feature, I'll move filed freebie messages back to their MailBoxes before zapping their folders.
