Hey, if that was Slammer, it had to be the quickest attack on record. That it was on the fastest computer in existence at the ISP surely made matters worse.
I'm still not convinced it was Slammer, though. I mean, that machine was vulnerable to it for literally less than an hour. I'd just installed SQL Server and had started copying the database back over to it and hadn't quite gotten around to copying SP3 when all hell broke loose.
Speaking of which, I accidentally started a full-text index incremental population on that machine and hope it's finally reached a point where I can interrupt it because an incremental's not gonna work. When I backed up the database, I didn't back up the full-text catalog, so if it's doing what it thinks is an incremental, it could be missing the first couple of million posts.

For those who don't know, I accidentally became an "investor" in CREE Dec 17.5 calls recently at a price far higher than the current 10 cents bid. I'm not a happy camper. And Matt knows it.
