Retailers will have to begin showing these accumulated pools as backlog...so to speak. They are having an incredible impact, make no mistake as an alternative to giving another lgift someone does not want...these cards are a godsend.

One other thing...Holiday shopping patterns have changed, people are stalking Retailers just like good traders stalk low stock prices. Everyone knows that the 5 days after Xmas has the Best Value...give a gift card...cash it in at inventory liquidation time...no brainer...

Someone could be getting set up here...

I own no retail stocks so it wont be me.

How do you make money selling stuff at 50% off?

Mark it up before taking the 50% off.

My little company is not public so all the accounting nuances may not be a concern to me but I would say "get the money in the till",the product will go out the door eventually, getting pd. before the product goes away certainly has to be better than getting pd with an nfs chk. or acct closed or ---,I have experienced them all luckily not to severe impact.

Gift cards are not counted as Revenue until used or EXPIRE. It's a free loan to retailers until used OR forgiven loan if expired. Retailers love'em.
