I spoke with a good friend and neighbor last night who is a franchisee recruiter and area manager for Del Taco and Captain D's and told him about what we are experiencing with unique both as an investor and franchisee. He told me that it did not suprise him at all, he told me as a franchise that has 1200 stores between Del Taco and D's they are still a very volital company. He told me that what we are dealing with is no different than any other franchise in it's early years. He was VERY impressed that Bob Fidler was as deeply involved as he is, he said if Bob belives in it, there must be something there.
The bottom line is UP never should have gone public this early in the process, they still have not even refined the systematic franchise process that is needed(speaking as a franchisee). I do whole heartedly believe that this will be successful, the food is just that good and the corporate staff Jim has hired are also just that good, we are just going to have to ride the bumby road that most people never see with a new franchise. Franchises a lot of times look like overnight successes. Quiznos was started 25 YEARS AGO! We are just know starting to here about them ion the fast 4 to 5 years.
