GG's press release sure sounds "strange" to me. I could see if GG said they believed in gold as a currency and were basically just replacing dollar reserves with gold reserves, but talk about long-term trendlines and emphasizing in caps in a news release? It just sounds overly promotional to me, but then again, I feel the same about many miners. Skepticism seems to work for me.

Mixed opinions here on the GG dividend and sale of its gold horde. While I appreciate the additional dividend (a fine way to start the New Year) I wonder why they sold their horde when they did, at a price below $400 when it was a high probability bet that the POG was headed above $400?? They were selling at a point when I was still buying juniors and KGC on pullbacks, which makes me wonder what it was that prompted the sale.

I agree with their assessment that we are still relatively early in a bull market for gold, so I am a bit perplexed and disappointed that they dropped their reverse hedge position (albeit just for the very short term) which was one of the most attractive aspects of GG stock. From the market reaction to the move, it seems I am not the only one who feels that way.

Nonetheless, it is a nice extra dividend and it is hard to complain too much about that.
