"Although I am against another entitlement program"

You have been singing the praises of this new supposed entitlement program all along. That is just a simple example of how ridiculous the republican position is. Corporate tax breaks and AArp insurance contracts, but screw the little guy.

Read the bill. Ted Kennedy is the only person with the courage to stand up these days. Open your eyes.

Maybe we should review our situation.

Although we discuss politics, this is really a stock board.
Stock boards are populated by people interested in money.
To make money you have to start with money.
To keep money you have to worry about the pretenders to your wealth. As we all know, money and Republicans are hand in glove.

I would wager that 80% of the overall posters on these boards are Republicans. The war in Iraq is not a uniquely Republican endeavor. Democrats have started wars too. The difference here lies in accepting responsibility for one's actions. Johnson did and washed his hands of Vietnam. Didn't solve the problem, of course, but it indicated he was paying attention. With Bush, it appears to be different. He believes his handlers just like the 18-20 yr olds believe their unit commanders when exhorted to fight for "freedom". Neither has a clue. I see no reason why 50 year olds can't fight in this war. Anybody can push a button. Why must naive young men always fight old men's wars ?

>>>Although I am against another entitlement program, some prescription benefit is better than nothing for seniors who are struggling.<<<

Struggling is right, and mostly because of prescription drug prices. So why then does this new program include a stipulation straight from the drug lobby that prohibits the program administrator from negotiating bulk prices for prescription drugs from pharmaceutical companies? No price negotiating power for drugs for a program financed by taxpayer money can only mean you and I and our kids will pay higher taxes in order to prop up drug company profits. And you want us to cheer about this bill? By the way, the vote was kept open for an unheard of (and illegal) THREE HOURS while kneecaps were broken behind the scenes.
