zz- I don't claim to know what is or isn't there as far as the tech goes. It's pretty obvious to me that Embarq is simply a rehash of Propp's powerline technology. It's all pretty clear now actually.
Ray was in a bind BIGTIME once the cu@ocx tech failed. Ivan came in and basically told him he could salvage things here but that we shareholders were going to have to supply Propp with the money necessary to convert Powerstream over to phone lines. Basically, we're bailing out Propp's private investors and Ivan made a nice salary in the process. There have been some SHADY deals cut in the past that can be found in the filings (hint: offshore, overseas type deals). Before a major company will come in and give major financing to NV, they're going to want to know how each and every deal was structured and with whom. It's the "with whom" part that I think NV has problems disclosing.
So when I say things aren't looking good, what I mean is that there have definitely been some seriously shady characters/deals going down here that NV doesn't want known. OR...the tech just ain't there my man. Take your pick. It's either one or the other. Nothing else makes any sense at this point. By all rights NV should have people falling all over themselves to provide money with this tech that is better than anything out there. But that's not happening and I can't think of any other reason other than the two I outlined above.
PS- NV not wanting to open their books for JP Morgan and American Century is a claim that has been made for quite awhile now but I now believe that claim to be credible. That's why I haven't mentioned it to this point.
