Response to Kristof points revealing the abject failure of the Bush mission in Iraq,
i repost something i wrote months ago, for any wishing the facts about Tora Bora i suggest a deep dig for a long special feature on the Tora Bora Escape.
The total incompetence by the U.S. at Tora Bora is a FACT, my suggestion of a motive a Speculation
<<2,000 of the elite of Al Queda were trapped and doomed in Tora Bora, and very likely with Osama bin Laden with them.
They only had 2 routes of escape, both brutal climbing and hiking where then each route brought them into Pakistan.
The end points of these routes were narrow.
Huge "mistake" number one , the U.S. bombed the bloody hell out of ONLY one of the escape routes, the escape route the estimated 2,000 were NOT using, they were all on the 2nd escape route.
Question one is what with all the vast technology of the U.S. how could the U.S. military have not known which route the Al Queda were taking???
And two, if the U.S. somehow, didn't know, why did they not simply bomb the bloody hell out of both escape routes???
And third, why did they not have a parachute drop of special forces to close each of the narrow pass escape end points???
The U.S. MISSION in Afghanistan was to the crush Al Queda, obliterate them; BUT when they HAD THEM, they let them get away.
Why????????????
I will find and post again LeCarre's article on the great scam of Bush and his devious team of scoundrels and how they brilliantly deceived the VAST majority of the U.S. public by changing Saddam into Osama, and shifting 9/11 to Iraq and i will point out they could NOT have done this IF they had obliterated the trapped 2,000 Al Queda elite(including the top dogs).>>
So Bush in his mad rush to get to Iraq was why we left Afghanistan to a handful of troops---so those that be PRO-BUSH should at least recognize we are dealing with, at minimum, an incompetent.
