Wahz - Regarding 1982 track. I just got some 1982 data for the first time...August 16th was the beginning of that run Jun 24, 83 was the top. That was a heck of a run! It lasted 10.3 months. If we tracked it perfectly we would peak at January 20th 2004....mmmm that's just what you said :-)
The only real technical differences that jumped out was that the 82 run never actually touched the 50 SMA until the first big break and that it was faster moving (UP). We've not been that stong. However, the whole darn "before and during" periods to the Aug 82 rally do match up well with our March bottom and subsequent run.
Thanks so much for pointing this out. Before I started following you in the Black Box and now here...I would have never dreamed of looking for historical patterns.
I finally see why you've been saying that the current rally has been flip floping between the 82 and 91 patterns.
