Sorry Dew I missed this post.
I don't spend very much time on this board and am very envious of the vast amount of information you possess regarding all these companies.
Please understand I don't feel UV radiation is unimportant in regard to creating skin injury which leads to fine line wrinkling, ruggaie, pigment changes, solar elastosis, actinic keratosis, basal cell ca, melanoma et al. I understand many of these changes are associated with skin appearence in aging. I am unaware of the study on prisoners you mention, but to your point individuals who live in climates such as the the British Isles where ambient sun light is low do have less wrinkling and documented less incidence of basal cell ca etc. than farm workers in the Southwest.
My point is facial aging is not simply "skin deep". Aging goes deep as bone reabsortion and extends upward thru the tissues. It has taken a very long time for plastic surgeons to begin to understand this. About 20 years ago there was a tremendous excitement over radiation producing free radicals being the principal factor in aging. Aging is more complicated than free radicals. There are sex and growth hormones whose gradual decline heralds aging. Basal resting temperatures, if the oven is hotter, the meat cooks faster. Finally telemers.
In the condition Progeria children born with this congenital disorder begin to assume the appearence and disabilities of old age typically well before they reach ten years of age. They die usually in the teens of conditions ASHD, Stroke, and cancer normally associated with advanced age. It has been discovered the defect is in telemeres which at birth are the same length as 70 year olds. And yes the skin does have the thin parchment look of the very old.
